Edmonton Family Photographer {R-J Family} Sneak Peek

Wow, winter sure came early this year. Looking at the forecast I think it is safe to say that this snow isn't going anywhere. Hard to believe that I was doing family sessions into mid-November last year with little to no snow and if I recall gorgeous temperatures. The silver lining is that hopefully in a couple weeks we will have a winter wonderland for my winter mini sessions.

This family booked me fairly last minute and I am so happy that I was able to fit them it. They were seriously the most fun family I have ever photographed. They were even so forgiving when I got stuck in traffic and was so late to their session - seriously who decides to pave the highway on a Friday afternoon? We lucked out with the most beautiful fall colors and boys who were full of smiles and laughs - having a teenage brother is obviously so awesome. Lee-Anna and Bryan, thank you so much for choosing me to capture your family. Wishing you all the best. Enjoy. {K}

Happy Halloween everyone. I hope that you all stayed dry and warm and that you are enjoying some of your kids candy while reading this - it's called candy tax in our house and this mama goes right for the crispy crunches every year. I had such an amazing fall and was so busy right up until this past weekend, so blog posts are definitely piling up. Hopefully come November I will be caught up! Thank you all again for choosing me as your family photographer and make this my busiest fall yet.  I really appreciate your patience while I work through all of your photos and promise they will be worth the wait.

I met this family on a very brisk fall day, the day after mother nature came through with a vengeance and blew away all that was left of the leaves. Luckily the river valley near Devon is such a pretty spot any time of the year. Little Dylan was much more interested in playing with the rocks, but big brother Mason was such a charmer with his piercing blue eyes. Trina and Warren, it was so nice meeting you and your boys and Jersey the dog. Wishing you all the best (and lots of Crispy Crunches!). Enjoy. {K}

Fall is coming to an end here and that means major catch up time for me. I am hoping to have all of my September sessions and October mini sessions sent out by the end of next week. Thank you so much to all of you for your patience, I promise your photos will be worth the wait.

Something this beautiful mom said to me when I was shooting this session has really stuck with me and that was that no one needs to be perfect in front of my camera. It's so true. Yes, I definitely guide you along the way, but sessions with me are very laid back.  I want to capture moments, not just perfectly posed shots. I totally get it, getting photos done with little ones can be so stressful, but come to your session with the mindset that you don't need to be perfect and I promise you it will rub off on your kids and make for photos that will really mean something to you.

Serena and Mark, it was so nice meeting you and your sweet boys. I am sure it will only be a matter of time before our paths cross again in our little town.  Thank you so much for choosing me to be your family photographer. Wishing you all the best. Enjoy. {K}

Seriously how is it almost the end of October? I know, I am so behind on my blogging schedule, in fact I think this is the longest I have gone in between posts. The reason, you guys have made October absolutely my most successful month ever, which means I have barely any free time between sessions and all the editing that comes after. But thank you all so much for the amazing support, I really couldn't see myself doing anything else, I love this job so much.

On top of working non stop I also took on a new challenge earlier this month that I am super excited about. I will be teaching photography classes at the Canadian Photography Learning Centre in the new year - specifically a how to shoot manual/use your DSLR class in January and a Lightroom class in March. This month I am training a couple nights a week, which has put me a bit behind, but I just couldn't turn down such an amazing opportunity. You can find more info at - www.cplc.ca.

I met this dad and his sweet kids on a blistery fall evening a few weeks ago. I don't get to photograph dads with their kids as often as I'd like, so when Ryan contacted me about fitting him in fairly last minute I couldn't say no, especially when he offered to drive over an hour so that I could do the session in my favorite spot - Prospectors Point in Devon (such a pretty spot all year long). We tried to get through the session as quickly as possible since it was freezing, the silver lining was that the cold really brought out so many warm hugs and moments that truly captured this dad's special bond with his kids. Ryan, thanks so much for choosing me as your photographer. Wishing you all the best. Enjoy. {K}

Edmonton & Area Family Photographer {Labrenz Family Sneak Peek}

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I hope that everyone is enjoying the long weekend surrounded by family and friends and good food. My husband had to work today, so we are hosting turkey dinner for my whole family tomorrow. I am the oldest of five kids, so I usually host the holiday dinners; I have cooked quite a few turkeys over the past 8 years or so I think I can say I am pretty good at it now! This year I have so much to be thankful for. Most of all my amazingly supportive husband, three healthy beautiful girls, family that helps us out so much and a thriving business- thanks to all of your incredible support.

I am very thankful for all of the sweet families that choose me to be their family photographer every year. Keri is a long time friend of mine, and I have had the pleasure of photographing her family for the past three years. It isn't always easy to guess when the leaves will turn and we will get perfect fall colors, but for the past three years the Labrenz family has lucked out with just gorgeous fall colors - last two weeks of September/first week of October seem to be the best bet. Keri and Garry, thank you so much for spending another beautiful fall evening with me, it's always a pleasure capturing all the love you have for eachother. Hope to see you again next year. Enjoy and have a wonderful Thanksgiving. {K}
