As an Edmonton newborn photographer, I’ve had the joy of meeting so many incredible families over the years. But every once in a while, I meet someone whose story stays with me long after the session. This is one of those stories.
Lisa and Armand waited many years to become parents. They experienced heartbreaking losses and went through costly infertility treatments. Their journey to meet their miracle baby after infertility was long and emotional. But when Charlie-Ann finally arrived, she was surrounded by pure love and joy. Welcoming this long-awaited Edmonton baby was a truly beautiful and unforgettable moment.
When Lisa first contacted me to book my maternity and newborn package, I didn’t yet realize how meaningful this session would be. It wasn’t until I received their questionnaire that I truly understood how deeply this baby was longed for.
Lisa was pampered with professional hair and makeup by Joline from Lily Grey Artistry. Lisa lived close to Joline’s location. My in-studio hair and makeup area was still being finalized. So, having Lisa pampered there worked out perfectly. After meeting Lisa, Joline messaged me to say how absolutely lovely she was. I couldn’t wait to welcome Lisa and her husband to my studio.
From the moment they arrived, I could feel the joy and anticipation in their eyes. In just a few short weeks, they would finally meet their baby girl. I styled Lisa’s maternity session around the colors she loved, and she looked breathtaking in every gown she wore—especially the lilac ruffle gown, a favorite among many of the mothers I photograph. I often feature it in both maternity and newborn sessions to create a cohesive, elegant look.
A few weeks later, I was thrilled to get Lisa’s email—Charlie-Ann Blair had arrived safely! At just 12 days old, this beautiful Edmonton baby returned to the studio with her proud parents for her newborn portraits.
While Lisa was pampered with hair and makeup in the studio, I began photographing Charlie-Ann’s individual portraits. She was so calm and peaceful as I moved through my table posing and prop flow. Once Lisa was ready, we dressed her again in the stunning lilac gown, capturing timeless mother-daughter portraits filled with warmth and love.
Lisa and Armand requested that I incorporate a few meaningful heirlooms into Charlie-Ann’s session—Lisa’s wedding gown and their wedding rings. Including personal items like these is one of the most powerful parts of what I do as an Edmonton baby photographer. These details make your photos not just beautiful, but truly one-of-a-kind.
We wrapped the couple’s wedding bands gently around Charlie-Ann’s tiny toes. Then, I photographed her nestled in a soft bucket setup with Lisa’s wedding dress hanging in the background. These images beautifully tell the story of love, endurance, and new beginnings.
Lisa and Armand chose an heirloom photo box engraved with Charlie-Ann’s name and birth date. Inside, they included prints and a USB of their favorite images to remember these precious early days. When I hand-delivered their photo box and complimentary canvas to their beautiful home a few weeks later, it was such a joy to see Charlie-Ann again—she had already grown so much!
As an Edmonton baby photographer, it’s moments like these that remind me why I do what I do. Capturing the story of a baby after infertility—the deep love, the journey, the joy—is such a privilege.
Thank you so much, Lisa and Armand, for trusting me to document this extraordinary chapter. I can’t wait to watch Charlie-Ann grow and hope to photograph more of your family’s milestones in the years to come.
