Edmonton & Area Newborn Photographer {Baby Maisie}

Hard to believe we are almost one week into 2020. I remember being a kid and imagining what my life would be like in 2020 - would I be married? Would I have kids? Would we have flying cars? Well life couldn’t be more amazing as a mom to three beautiful girls and married to the man of my dreams. Now only if I could fly to all of my sessions or back and forth to all the kids activities. One thing I never saw coming was being my own boss and having a job photographing the most wonderful families, I am so thankful to do a job I love. 2020 is a big year for me, as there are lots of changes to come. You might have noticed some new images in my galleries and on my home page, and in the next couple of weeks I will be releasing my new packages that I hope will appeal to everyone that loves my photography. My current pricing is still valid, so if you are expecting in 2020 right now is definitely the time to book and save some money.

Continuing with my busy December of babies, I got to meet miss Maisie just a couple weeks before Christmas. I have been photographing this gorgeous family since their third daughter arrived a couple years ago. I was very pleasantly surprised when the family announced baby number four was on the way and even more pleased when another little girl arrived just in time for the holidays. These girls are all so sweet and the love that surrounded sweet Maisie was such a joy to capture. Girl squad goals for sure. And of course being the fourth baby she was easy peasy for me, such a little doll. Robyn and Matt, thank you so much for choosing me to be your family photographer, it has been so wonderful watching your family grow. Wishing you all the best as a family of six! Happy new year! Enjoy.

Edmonton & Area Maternity & Newborn Photographer {Baby Kinsley}

Happy new year everyone! I can’t believe how fast 2019 flied by - thank you to all of you who have supported me another year. Hard to believe I am almost into my sixth year in business. I am so incredibly pumped for 2020. In a few weeks I will be releasing new packages for family, newborns and babies, as well as details about my next Mama & Cameras class. This year already has so much in store, starting with a much needed family vacation in February, then in March a trip to Toronto to attend an in person newborn workshop with one of my all time favorite newborn photographers - Kelly Brown. I hope you and your family enjoyed a relaxing Christmas and holidays and I wish you all the best in 2020. I will be releasing my 2020 family session dates in mid-January so be sure to join my VIP group or subscribe to my newsletter at the end of this post for first “dibs” on my limited family session dates. If you are expecting in 2020 now is definitely the time to book. I am already booking sessions into July and my 2019 pricing is still valid for a couple more weeks. Contact me today to book.

December was full of holiday babies and I can’t wait to share them over the next coming weeks. I had never heard the name Kinsley before, but funny enough a couple weeks after my first niece Kinsley arrived, this sweet little Kinsley arrived. I had met her gorgeous parents exactly two months before her session for a rainy fall maternity session, you wouldn’t know how cold it was looking at their smiles, thank you both for being such good sports. Tiny little Kinsley was definitely happiest in mom or dad’s arms during our session but luckily with some wrapping tricks I was able to sneak in a couple sleepy bucket shots before she woke up and noticed she wasn’t in anyone’s arms. I wouldn’t be a newborn photographer if I didn’t love baby snuggles, so fussy babies are never too much for me. C & G thank you so much for having me capture this special time for your family. Wishing you all the best as a family of three. Enjoy

Edmonton & Area Maternity and Newborn Photographer {Baby Bennett}

Happy Sunday everyone. I hope you had a fabulous weekend and enjoyed some of the nicest weather we’ve had in a month. Between Thursday and Saturday I shot 3 family sessions and a sweet pumpkin patch cake smash session, so busy, so today it was time to relax a bit and get caught up on some blogging and editing. You may have noticed that I haven’t been blogging family sessions; truth is I am just way too busy to blog every session over the summer and fall months, but I will be sharing all of my favorite sessions over the course of the slower winter months, so stay tuned. Are you thinking about Christmas yet? I am! The past few weeks I have been stocking up on sweet holiday newborn props for all of my holiday newborns (still some openings available) and last week I released my Christmas studio and Outdoor winter mini session dates - dates are starting to book up fast, see available bookings and book your spot here today. There are still some fall dates available and now is the best time to book your extended holiday season family sessions, there are a few openings just before Christmas and New years to accommodate families that all get together over the holidays.

I met this gorgeous couple this summer and as soon as I met them I could tell that a) they would have the most beautiful baby and b) I was about to shoot my favourite maternity session of all time. Ashley arrived to maternity session with a few just lovely dresses to wear, we had the most amazing golden hour light, and as usual we had one of my favourite spots all to ourselves. Worst part - the mosquitoes! I was getting eaten to death right through my jeans and poor mama Ashley, changing as we went nearly got eaten alive. You just can’t win here all the way in the summer.

A few weeks later sweet little Bennett arrived..my 7th newborn Bennett of the year! The funny thing is that I always loved the name Bennett for a boy, but never got to use it since I had three girls. Now I guess I just book families who have a great taste in names. I arrived to a new mom and dad who had slept in a bit late (I would too if baby was sleeping) and a wide awake baby boy. After what seemed like hours, I finally got little B to sleep and we ended up with the most adorable sleepy shots and warm cuddly shots with mom and dad who were just so obviously in love with their new bundle of joy and with each other in their new role as parents. Ashley and Matt thank you so much for choosing me to capture this special time for your family. Wishing you all the best as a family of three and p.s Happy anniversary. Enjoy, {K}

Edmonton Newborn Photographer {Baby Donovan}

Happy Thursday everyone, here is a rare afternoon post for you as last night got away from me and I never blogged this session as promised. Sending a huge thank you out to my mama who took my littlest for the afternoon so I could try and get somewhat caught up on my mountain of blogging, editing, packaging and sending USBS, banking, invoicing and some social media etc…if you were wondering what you are investing in when you book a session it’s not just the time I spend taking your photos, but all of the behind scenes stuff that takes place in order to deliver a professional quality experience to every family I am lucky to photograph. Pricing has been a hot topic as of late. I have shared this post on my personal Facebook page and had such a wonderful response and wanted to share here for every family that is thinking about investing in a session with me and as a thank you to everyone who has trusted me to capture their family’s precious memories and given me the opportunity to do a job that I love everyday. I’ve known some families for four years now and watching their families grow is really such an honour and privilege.

So something’s been on my mind.

I 100% understand everyone has a budget. I do, too. Everyone has bills and responsibilities. I do, too. We all do!
And a lot of people have their luxuries- or things they value highly.

Example: Most people have a smart phone. Those things aren’t cheap. But if it’s something you value, you invest.

Thing is- a lot of the stuff that’s expensive in our lives won’t last forever. My phone is only like 3 years old and it’s basically at the end of its life. Some people get a new phone everytime the new model comes out. That stuff isn’t cheap... but people place value to those things in their lives. If it matters to you, you’ll invest in it.

So here’s why I’m talking about this. I get really frustrated sometimes (a lot of photographers do) hearing about how we are too expensive... or our prices are ridiculous. Or cost “an arm and a leg.”

Because photography isn’t an outfit you’ll outgrow.
Photography isn’t a cell phone that’ll run too slow in two years.
Photography isn’t an accessory that’ll go out of style.
Or a car that won’t drive in 15 years.

Photographs are forever.
And photography is a way to capture life as it FLIES on by.

Photography is a way to remember how small your baby’s tiny toes were.
It’s a way to remember the smiles, the nose scrunches, the tears, the hugs, the heights, the tiny fingers and tiny toes, the kisses and the bonds.

It’s a snapshot into your lives at that very moment.
The moment’s that you can’t get back.

I promise you these photos you invest in won’t need a new battery and they won’t require a tune up.

They will exist for years and years to come.
When your kids are all like “Mom, you’re embarrassing me”
Or when your kids have somehow grown taller then you.
These photos will exist when your kids have moved into their own homes and have their own families.

They become priceless.
I’m writing this not to say HEY ignore your budgets!
No.
Not at all.
I’m writing this to maybe give you a different perspective. To educate about the importance of photography and why we all believe it’s a high priority. And maybe help you understand why we believe in the experience and product we give you.

Honestly, we just want you to love your photos and FEEL the memories flood back when you look upon them over the years.

When you invest in your photography, you invest in memories.
You invest in life.

It’s an honor to be apart of something so much bigger then myself and to be apart of your memories.

I met little Donovan a few weeks ago now and could not wait to share more from his session. First - oh my gosh that red hair, I don’t think in four years of photographing newborns I have ever met a more gorgeous ginger baby. And on top of that, 9.5 lbs. of pure baby squishiness. Sometimes I have to pinch myself, I really do photograph the most beautiful babies. This little guy is lucky to have two big sisters and you could just see the joy in their eyes and heart every time they got to hold or snuggle their new baby brother, so heart melting. Michelle Ann & Todd, thank you so much for inviting me into your beautiful home to capture this special time for your family. Wishing you all the very best as a family of five (or 6, we have to include Norman the Great Dane) .

Alberta Newborn Photographer {Baby Everette}

Happy Mother’s Day. I am writing this post super late in the evening as this Mother’s Day was a busy one, from spending the morning with my mom, to coming home, seeing my husband off to work, then doing my best to be present for my girls while trying to get all caught up because this time tomorrow I will be in Vegas! Typical day, motherhood is just that, juggling a million things all the time, even on our special days. Another word that resonates with me when I think of Motherhood is “fleeting” - My oldest daughter will be 10 this summer and my baby just turned 4, and every year seems to fly by faster than the last. Getting in the frame with my girls is the only way I know I will be able to hold onto to this beautiful season of my life. This Mother’s day treat yourself with family photos that I know you will cherish as your children grow older. 2019 family session dates are booking up fast, click on button to see current openings and conveniently book your family session online today.

What kind of Mother’s day would it be without featuring a brand new gorgeous mama on the blog. I met sweet baby Everette earlier this week and oh my gosh what a little doll she was. I am so lucky to call Aryn and Hayes family and I was so excited when they asked to photograph their baby girl. Little miss Evie was born on Easter Sunday, a bit earlier than expected, so a very tiny 6 lbs. of pure sweetness. I photographed this new family in their gorgeous home, so full of natural light and the nursery has to be one of the most beautiful I’ve seen, such a treat. I am always blown away how amazing parents can look during the throughs of early days with a newborn, and Aryn was no exception, such a stunning new mom! And both parents just beaming with love for their little one, it doesn’t get much better than that. A & H thank you so much for having me capture this special time for your family. I can’t wait to see you all again soon and watch little Everette grow up. Wishing you all this best as a family of three. Enjoy! Love {K}.
