Don’t worry, you’re not alone—and I’m here to help.
As an Edmonton Newborn Photographer with years of experience capturing these precious first days, I understand how fleeting and meaningful this time can be. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed by all the decisions that come with becoming a new parent, or simply unsure what to expect from a session, I’ve got you covered.
In this post, I’ll walk you through what to expect, share some of my favorite newborn photography stories, and show you how my Edmonton Newborn Portrait Studio makes every session as seamless and special as possible.
If you’re a new parent, your life is probably a whirlwind of feedings, naps, and adjusting to a whole new routine. Amid the chaos, these early days often pass by in a blur. That’s why newborn photography is so important—it freezes this tiny moment in time.
Personally, when I look back at the newborn photos of my own children, I’m immediately transported to those quiet, beautiful days of newborn cuddles and sleepy snuggles. One of my favorite images from that session shows my baby last baby being kissed by her 2 big sisters. That photo now hangs in our living room and sparks a smile and pulls at my heart every single day.
This is the kind of emotional value I strive to create for each client who walks through my doors.
Choosing the right photographer is more than just liking their portfolio (although that’s important too!). You want someone who:
At my Edmonton Newborn Portrait Studio, I bring all these elements together. With 12 years of hands-on experience, a fully equipped studio, and a calm, baby-led approach, I aim to make your session stress-free and truly memorable.
📸 Twin Session: One of my most loved sessions featured twin newborns wrapped in soft neutrals, gently posed in a basket—an image that now lives framed above the family’s fireplace.
I design every session around your baby’s and mama’s comfort. Here’s a peek at what usually happens:
I also offer a wide variety of props and backdrops, but I love when families bring personal items like a hand-knit blanket or a special stuffy. These touches make your session even more meaningful.
📸 Emotional portraits: A client once brought their late father’s favorite ball cap. We wrapped the baby in a neutral wrap it and captured a deeply sentimental image that brought the family to tears.
One of the most unique things about working with me as your Edmonton Newborn Photographer is how much thought and care I’ve put into creating a truly stress-free experience—especially for moms.
From the moment you step into my Edmonton Newborn Portrait Studio, everything is taken care of. While I gently pose and photograph your baby in a calm, quiet environment, you’ll be pampered with in-studio professional hair and makeup services. This gives you time to relax, settle in, and feel your best—without the rush or pressure that often comes with getting ready for a photo session.
Here’s how the flow works:
📸 Mama and Baby: One mom shared afterward that she hadn’t worn makeup in months and almost cried when she saw herself in the mirror—glowing and confident—holding her newborn. Those portraits became her absolute favorite.
This thoughtful session flow not only results in gorgeous, relaxed images, but also helps moms feel seen, cared for, and celebrated—because you deserve that, too.
Honestly, not much!
At my Edmonton Newborn Portrait Studio, everything is ready for you:
Cozy wraps
Soft props
Gentle lighting and calm, quiet atmosphere
You’re welcome to bring sentimental items—like a family heirloom or a favorite book—to incorporate into the session. Otherwise, just bring your baby, a few diapers, and any feeding necessities.
📸 Behind-the-Scenes Glimpse: During one session, the parents brought in their wedding dress to pose around their daughter for a dreamy, angelic photo. It turned out to be the showstopper image of the entire gallery and I was so happy they ordered a canvas print to display their home.
You will receive your online proof gallery 2-7 days following sessions. Your purchased digital images will be professionally edited and delivered within 2-3 days. I offer a variety of packages that include digital files, heirloom albums, and fine art prints so you can showcase your baby’s portraits in your home however you’d like. Artwork is hand delivered to your home in 3-4 weeks.
Want something custom? I’ll work with you to create a package that suits your family’s needs.
