Edmonton Newborn Photographer {Baby Donovan}

Happy Thursday everyone, here is a rare afternoon post for you as last night got away from me and I never blogged this session as promised. Sending a huge thank you out to my mama who took my littlest for the afternoon so I could try and get somewhat caught up on my mountain of blogging, editing, packaging and sending USBS, banking, invoicing and some social media etc…if you were wondering what you are investing in when you book a session it’s not just the time I spend taking your photos, but all of the behind scenes stuff that takes place in order to deliver a professional quality experience to every family I am lucky to photograph. Pricing has been a hot topic as of late. I have shared this post on my personal Facebook page and had such a wonderful response and wanted to share here for every family that is thinking about investing in a session with me and as a thank you to everyone who has trusted me to capture their family’s precious memories and given me the opportunity to do a job that I love everyday. I’ve known some families for four years now and watching their families grow is really such an honor and privilege.

“So something’s been on my mind.I 100% understand everyone has a budget. I do, too. Everyone has bills and responsibilities. I do, too. We all do!
And a lot of people have their luxuries- or things they value highly.

Example: Most people have a smart phone. Those things aren’t cheap. But if it’s something you value, you invest.

Thing is- a lot of the stuff that’s expensive in our lives won’t last forever. My phone is only like 3 years old and it’s basically at the end of its life. Some people get a new phone everytime the new model comes out. That stuff isn’t cheap… but people place value to those things in their lives. If it matters to you, you’ll invest in it.

So here’s why I’m talking about this. I get really frustrated sometimes (a lot of photographers do) hearing about how we are too expensive… or our prices are ridiculous. Or cost “an arm and a leg.”

Because photography isn’t an outfit you’ll outgrow.
Photography isn’t a cell phone that’ll run too slow in two years.
Photography isn’t an accessory that’ll go out of style.
Or a car that won’t drive in 15 years.

Photographs are forever.
And photography is a way to capture life as it FLIES on by.

Photography is a way to remember how small your baby’s tiny toes were.
It’s a way to remember the smiles, the nose scrunches, the tears, the hugs, the heights, the tiny fingers and tiny toes, the kisses and the bonds.

It’s a snapshot into your lives at that very moment.
The moment’s that you can’t get back.

I promise you these photos you invest in won’t need a new battery and they won’t require a tune up.

They will exist for years and years to come.
When your kids are all like “Mom, you’re embarrassing me”
Or when your kids have somehow grown taller then you.
These photos will exist when your kids have moved into their own homes and have their own families.

They become priceless.
I’m writing this not to say HEY ignore your budgets!
No.
Not at all.
I’m writing this to maybe give you a different perspective. To educate about the importance of photography and why we all believe it’s a high priority. And maybe help you understand why we believe in the experience and product we give you.

Honestly, we just want you to love your photos and FEEL the memories flood back when you look upon them over the years.

When you invest in your photography, you invest in memories.
You invest in life.

It’s an honor to be apart of something so much bigger then myself and to be apart of your memories.”

I met little Donovan a few weeks ago now and could not wait to share more from his session. First – oh my gosh that red hair, I don’t think in four years of photographing newborns I have ever met a more gorgeous ginger baby. And on top of that, 9.5 lbs. of pure baby squishiness. Sometimes I have to pinch myself, I really do photograph the most beautiful babies. This little guy is lucky to have two big sisters and you could just see the joy in their eyes and heart every time they got to hold or snuggle their new baby brother, so heart melting. Michelle Ann & Todd, thank you so much for inviting me into your beautiful home to capture this special time for your family. Wishing you all the very best as a family of five (or 6, we have to include Norman the Great Dane) .
