Edmonton Extended Family Photographer {Ng Family} Sneak Peek

March is right around the corner, which means spring is almost here, almost! As much as I love winter, there usually comes a point in February where I've just had enough. I can't wait for warmer weather and longer days when I can get out and do more sessions outside. Spring mini sessions in the cherry blossoms will be happening in May again this year, be sure to join my VIP group on Facebook for the first chance at bookings, last year's sessions sold out in hours. My summer availability is also booking up really fast, so don't wait to book your grad photos or summer family photos.

I met this beautiful family a couple weeks ago, after Sarah contacted me to photograph her family while she was in Edmonton visiting from out of province. It was too cold to head outside,  but luckily her parents have a light filled front room that was perfect for some family portraits. Sweet little Ella wasn't too sure about being the centre of attention, but nothing a few gold fish crackers couldn't fix. 2018 is going to be an amazing year for this family, with a new baby due in the spring and a summer wedding. Ng fmaily, thank you so much for inviting me into your home to capture your family. Wishing you all the best. Enjoy {K}

Fall is coming to an end here and that means major catch up time for me. I am hoping to have all of my September sessions and October mini sessions sent out by the end of next week. Thank you so much to all of you for your patience, I promise your photos will be worth the wait.

Something this beautiful mom said to me when I was shooting this session has really stuck with me and that was that no one needs to be perfect in front of my camera. It's so true. Yes, I definitely guide you along the way, but sessions with me are very laid back.  I want to capture moments, not just perfectly posed shots. I totally get it, getting photos done with little ones can be so stressful, but come to your session with the mindset that you don't need to be perfect and I promise you it will rub off on your kids and make for photos that will really mean something to you.

Serena and Mark, it was so nice meeting you and your sweet boys. I am sure it will only be a matter of time before our paths cross again in our little town.  Thank you so much for choosing me to be your family photographer. Wishing you all the best. Enjoy. {K}

Seriously how is it almost the end of October? I know, I am so behind on my blogging schedule, in fact I think this is the longest I have gone in between posts. The reason, you guys have made October absolutely my most successful month ever, which means I have barely any free time between sessions and all the editing that comes after. But thank you all so much for the amazing support, I really couldn't see myself doing anything else, I love this job so much.

On top of working non stop I also took on a new challenge earlier this month that I am super excited about. I will be teaching photography classes at the Canadian Photography Learning Centre in the new year - specifically a how to shoot manual/use your DSLR class in January and a Lightroom class in March. This month I am training a couple nights a week, which has put me a bit behind, but I just couldn't turn down such an amazing opportunity. You can find more info at - www.cplc.ca.

I met this dad and his sweet kids on a blistery fall evening a few weeks ago. I don't get to photograph dads with their kids as often as I'd like, so when Ryan contacted me about fitting him in fairly last minute I couldn't say no, especially when he offered to drive over an hour so that I could do the session in my favorite spot - Prospectors Point in Devon (such a pretty spot all year long). We tried to get through the session as quickly as possible since it was freezing, the silver lining was that the cold really brought out so many warm hugs and moments that truly captured this dad's special bond with his kids. Ryan, thanks so much for choosing me as your photographer. Wishing you all the best. Enjoy. {K}

Thank you so much to everyone who has made this my most successful fall yet. I have met so many new families, as well as so many families that have been with me since the beginning. I am so grateful for all of you and am so happy to be your family photographer. My turn around right now is about 3-4 weeks, the longest it's ever been, but I promise all of your photos will be worth the wait.

I met this sweet family almost exactly a year ago when they were just three. One year later and a baby brother has joined the family, you can see his newborn photos here, and they are the sweetest family of four. Kate was only 2.5 when I did her photos last year, and what a difference a year makes! She was just a darling this year in the most adorable dress and boots. Little Noah has grown sooo much since his newborn session, at 8 months he is almost as big as my 2 year old. Ashley and Mike, it has been wonderful getting to know your family the past year, thank you so much for choosing me as your family photographer. Wishing you all the best and hope to see you again soon. Enjoy. {K}

It's officially the first day of fall. Does anyone else feel like this summer flew by way too fast? I am actually a fan of fall, the beautiful colors and being able to wear cozy sweaters everyday, but I hate knowing that our bitter cold Alberta winter is just mere months away and that my outdoor family sessions that I love shooting will start to slow down come November until next year.

Winter on the other hand is the perfect time for indoor lifestyle family sessions; I book these sessions year round, but winter is usually the busiest time. I do all of my newborn sessions in home and can tell you that doing a session in your home is a very laid back and fun experience. You can play board games, bake cookies, jump on the bed, or just snuggle your babies in bed while I capture some truly meaningful images that you will cherish as your children grow up and your home changes.

I have had the pleasure of photographing this beautiful family for the past three years. Tamalea is one of my oldest friends, we have known each other since Kindergarten, so it is always wonderful to see her family and catch up every fall - though we really need to make an effort to get together more often! Little Maddox was a joy to capture as usual, he just has the cheekiest little grin, and Suri the family dog even gave me some great smiles. Papa even joined in this year, it was so nice to see you Leo. Tamalea and Matt, thank you so much for choosing me as your family photographer every year and for joining me in my little town this year for your photos. Enjoy. {K}
