Alberta Newborn Photographer {Baby Everette}

Happy Mother’s Day. I am writing this post super late in the evening as this Mother’s Day was a busy one, from spending the morning with my mom, to coming home, seeing my husband off to work, then doing my best to be present for my girls while trying to get all caught up because this time tomorrow I will be in Vegas! Typical day, motherhood is just that, juggling a million things all the time, even on our special days. Another word that resonates with me when I think of Motherhood is “fleeting” - My oldest daughter will be 10 this summer and my baby just turned 4, and every year seems to fly by faster than the last. Getting in the frame with my girls is the only way I know I will be able to hold onto to this beautiful season of my life. This Mother’s day treat yourself with family photos that I know you will cherish as your children grow older. 2019 family session dates are booking up fast, click on button to see current openings and conveniently book your family session online today.

What kind of Mother’s day would it be without featuring a brand new gorgeous mama on the blog. I met sweet baby Everette earlier this week and oh my gosh what a little doll she was. I am so lucky to call Aryn and Hayes family and I was so excited when they asked to photograph their baby girl. Little miss Evie was born on Easter Sunday, a bit earlier than expected, so a very tiny 6 lbs. of pure sweetness. I photographed this new family in their gorgeous home, so full of natural light and the nursery has to be one of the most beautiful I’ve seen, such a treat. I am always blown away how amazing parents can look during the throughs of early days with a newborn, and Aryn was no exception, such a stunning new mom! And both parents just beaming with love for their little one, it doesn’t get much better than that. A & H thank you so much for having me capture this special time for your family. I can’t wait to see you all again soon and watch little Everette grow up. Wishing you all this best as a family of three. Enjoy! Love {K}.

Edmonton & Area Newborn Photographer {Baby Logan} Sneak Peek

This summer is quickly coming to an end. It'y my oldest daughter's 9th birthday tomorrow and the rest of the year seems to fly by after that, before we know it it's my birthday, Halloween, my middle ones's birthday in November and then boom it's Christmas! It is so amazing how fast time and the years fly by when you become a parent. I remember sitting in my daughter's finished nursery before she arrived thinking is this baby ever going to get here and here I am nine years later and it went by sooooo fast, too fast! This is why newborn and family photography is so important and why I feel so lucky every time I capture such fleeting moments and memories for families, your babies are only babies for so long and you only get so many years with your children. If not for yourself, give your kids the gift of images of them wrapped in their mother's arms or being tickled by their dad, my girls love looking back at our old family photos and remembering how little they used to be and how young their mom and dad used to look, how life was when their was just one, two then three of them. If you are looking to book a 2018 session my newborn and family openings are booking up fast now. Please contact me to book your 2018 or 2019 newborn session. To book a 2018 family session, please visit my easy online booking tool by clicking the button below.

July was a full month of sweet squishy little newborns, including two little guy's named Logan. The second Logan I was lucky to meet was the 100th newborn I've photographed, and what  perfect timing as this little guy is very special. This beautiful family has been wanting to start a family for many years and after 5 years on a waiting list they finally received the most amazing news, a baby boy would be theirs through the love of adoption. I couldn't imagine the joy and happiness they must feel and did it ever show when I finally got to meet them, you couldn't wipe the smiles off their faces, just pure love and joy.  This tiny 5lb. little guy had to travel a few hours home and I couldn't stop imagining what it would be like to bring a baby home after waiting so long, the anticipation to finally get home and start your life together! For his newborn session he was so wide eyed and smiley to start then a sleeping little angel for me once I posed him, the kind of session newborn photographers dream of! Michelle and Brendan, it was such a pleasure meeting you both and capturing this very special time for your family. Wishing you the very best as a family of three. Enjoy. {K}

Edmonton Newborn Photographer {Baby Alexander} Sneak Peek

Wow has it really been a whole month since my last post? Summer is always a really busy time for our family as well as my business. I have been so busy in the background shooting the most beautiful families and editing like a maniac, on top of trying to enjoy on of the 18 summers I get with my girls. I really appreciate everyones patience as I get caught up on galleries and sneak peeks. I am always very upfront with my turn around times and as much as I would love to deliver your photos to you in a matter of days and not weeks raising a family and running a successful business means making some sacrifices on both sides. 2018 family session dates are booking up so fast - THANK YOU! Remaining summer dates are $50 off and fall openings are very slim. Book your spot today, I would love to see you again or meet your beautiful family.

I had the absolute privilege of meeting this amazing family earlier this month. On Canada Day I happened to see their story featured on Global Edmonton news - you can read more here. I was incredibly touched and reached out to them to see if I could gift them a newborn session and I was so happy when they graciously accepted. Giving has always been an important part of my life and my business and I am always so rewarded in the end, in this case I met a very special family who's story has inspired me and touched my heart. You can read more about mom Kuen's journey here, and I encourage you to. As a young woman she became a quadriplegic after a horrific car accident, but she hasn't let that stop her from living a full life. Given a very small chance of ever conceiving a baby, sweet little Alexander, affectionately known as baby Thor, was really a miracle. Kuen and Jack, thank you so much for inviting me into your home to capture this special time for your family. I wish you absolutely nothing but the best, it was such a pleasure to capture these precious memories for you. {K}

Edmonton & Area Newborn Photographer {Baby Mariah} Sneak Peek

Rare afternoon blog post because my husband and I are off to VEGAS for the weekend and I am planning on shutting off social media so we can enjoy this time together, out first trip away alone in four years. We are so grateful to have family close that supports us in so many ways, the girls are looking forward to a fun weekend with their grandparents and we are so lucky not to have to worry about them when we are away. This was one of my only weekends left this summer, once we get back it will be go go go, lots of newborn, maternity and family sessions and even some teaching. I will release my limited remaining 2018 openings when I return, se sure to join my VIP group so you  don't miss out.

I met this gorgeous family earlier this spring for Brittany's maternity session during the tail end of our long winter. They weren't sure if a baby girl or boy would be joining big brother Liam, so I was excited to hear that they welcomed baby Mariah, a little sister. Little Mariah definitely made me work for each shot, but after some cuddles she slept like a dream most of the session. Big brother on the other hand was an absolute dream and was just delighted to have his photo taken with his new baby sister. I am so lucky to now be able to offer newborn sessions in my Devon home studio to cater to families specific needs, this family was still in the process of finishing their new home so a studio session was the best option for them. Brittany and Adam, it was so nice meeting you and capturing this special time, wishing you all the best as a family of four. Enjoy. {K}

Edmonton Maternity & Newborn Photographer {Baby Leslie Sneak Peek}

Wow, June is here and as usual this year is flying by fast! 2018 has been such an exciting year for me and I am so lucky to have most of 2018 booked up already, with so many families I am getting used to seeing every year. I love summer, when the kids are out of school we spend so much time outside enjoying the beautiful river valley and parks close to our home, and I love photographing families in the gorgeous evening light. My summer and fall availability is already very thin, especially weekends, but I am going to be launching an easier way to view my available dates and book your family session with me, watch for the announcement in my VIP group soon and book your 2018 session soon.

Maternity and newborn sessions will still need to be booked via email. I have very limited spaces available from now until the end of the year, so I definitely encourage you to book as early as possible, ideally in your second trimester. Sessions can now take place in the comfort of your home as usual or in my brand new home studio located in Devon, just 20 minutes SW of Edmonton.

I was so lucky to meet this beautiful couple earlier this spring for a maternity session in the most gorgeous light in downtown Edmonton. They were anticipating the arrival of their baby boy and I could just feel their love, joy and anticipation in every shot, such a magical session. I was so happy to hear the news that their baby arrived, a bit early but healthy and ready for his newborn photos. The love that surrounds a new baby is so precious and the fact that this boy has two moms to love him (and make him a next generation Harry Potter fan!) makes him just as blessed as any baby I photograph with a loving family. Sweet little Leslie was just an angel for his session, I wrapped and unwrapped him and he opened his eyes just a few split seconds at a time, not bothered at all, a newborn photographer's dream. Samantha & Megan, thank you so much for inviting me into your home to capture this special time, wishing you all the best. Enjoy. {K}
