Alberta Newborn Photographer {Baby Everette}

Happy Mother’s Day. I am writing this post super late in the evening as this Mother’s Day was a busy one, from spending the morning with my mom, to coming home, seeing my husband off to work, then doing my best to be present for my girls while trying to get all caught up because this time tomorrow I will be in Vegas! Typical day, motherhood is just that, juggling a million things all the time, even on our special days. Another word that resonates with me when I think of Motherhood is “fleeting” - My oldest daughter will be 10 this summer and my baby just turned 4, and every year seems to fly by faster than the last. Getting in the frame with my girls is the only way I know I will be able to hold onto to this beautiful season of my life. This Mother’s day treat yourself with family photos that I know you will cherish as your children grow older. 2019 family session dates are booking up fast, click on button to see current openings and conveniently book your family session online today.

What kind of Mother’s day would it be without featuring a brand new gorgeous mama on the blog. I met sweet baby Everette earlier this week and oh my gosh what a little doll she was. I am so lucky to call Aryn and Hayes family and I was so excited when they asked to photograph their baby girl. Little miss Evie was born on Easter Sunday, a bit earlier than expected, so a very tiny 6 lbs. of pure sweetness. I photographed this new family in their gorgeous home, so full of natural light and the nursery has to be one of the most beautiful I’ve seen, such a treat. I am always blown away how amazing parents can look during the throughs of early days with a newborn, and Aryn was no exception, such a stunning new mom! And both parents just beaming with love for their little one, it doesn’t get much better than that. A & H thank you so much for having me capture this special time for your family. I can’t wait to see you all again soon and watch little Everette grow up. Wishing you all this best as a family of three. Enjoy! Love {K}.

Edmonton Maternity & Newborn Photographer {Baby Graeme}

Spring is officially here and for me that means the start of my busiest time of year is just around the corner, 80% of family sessions are booked between April and October. Weekend session dates are booking up the fastest, be sure to visit my online booking page soon to secure your 2019 family session date. This past week was amazing, I shot the newborn session featured below, as well as a branding session and my dentist’s office, can’t wait to share more from each unique session. I also taught my first Mama & Camera’s Learn to Shoot Manual class to six wonderful ladies yesterday and wow does teaching again ever feel good. It is truly so rewarding to share my photography knowledge with others and I am looking forward to teaching another Mama’s & Cameras classes again later this year.

I met Taryn and Nathan earlier this year for a maternity session in the always beautiful Hole’s Greenhouse in St. Albert. We had the most beautiful light and you could just feel the excitement and joy these two had for their very special IVF baby that they had been waiting many years for - made with a lots of love and a little bit of science. I couldn’t wait to see them again and meet their little boy this spring.

Little Graeme couldn’t have been more perfect when I met his for his newborn session when he was 12 days new. He was so calm as I wrapped him up and he drifted off to a deep sleep for most of the session. I could only imagine waiting so long for your first baby and then finally getting to snuggle them in your arms, must feel like heaven. The love and joy that surrounds a new baby is such an honour to capture and these two sure adore their baby boy. Taryn and Nathan thank you so much for having me photograph this very special time for your family. Wishing you all the best as a family of 3 (pius one - glad we got Edison in some shots)

Edmonton Fresh 48 & Newborn Photographer {Baby Brynn}

It’s officially spring break and after a fun weekend with family, including checking out the new Royal Alberta Museum (highly recommend!), I’m ready to enjoy having my kids home this week. We will do some baking, check out the new children’s area at the Telus World of Science, maybe go swimming, and hopefully get outside a lot, the perfect staycation. Hope you and your family have some fun planned for the week if it’s spring break for your kids too. With spring officially here and summer just around the corner now is absolutely the best time to book your 2019 family session. Weekend dates are all ready booking up into the fall. Some pointers again for picking the right season for photos - late May means cherry blossoms, late July canola fields (and bugs!), fall officially starts in September but colors are usually best between mid September and early October, and winter makes the perfect backdrop for holiday photos or extended family sessions when everyone is together for the holidays. Click the button below to see current openings.

I am so lucky to have the absolute honour of capturing this beautiful family for their baby girl’s first year. I got to meet Brynn when she was just hours old for a Fresh 48 session. Fresh 48 sessions are done in hospital when baby is 12-48 hours old, usually timed for when older siblings come to meet their new baby or brother or sister for the first time. The pure love and joy that surrounds a new baby those first days is full of precious moments that are so fleeting and I am so lucky to freeze time for these families. Fresh 48 sessions can be booked alone or at a discounted rate when booked with a newborn session or first year packages.

A couple short weeks later I photographed sweet little Brynn again for her newborn photos. It is always fun to see how families are adjusting to having a new little one and I am always amazed how much babies can change in as little as 10 days. Miss Brynn was so alert and spent a lot of time awake before melting into her dad’s arms and drifting off to sleep for her posed portraits. Big brother Chase was full of love for his new sister and even though he was a typical busy toddler, we got some very adorable snuggly shots of him and his sister. I cannot wait to see this family again later this year when Brynn is ready for her sitter session, the time will fly by I am sure. Meghan and Garret, thank you so much for having me capture this special time for your family. I am looking forward to getting to know you more this year and wish you all the very best as a family of four. Love {K}.

Edmonton Newborn Photographer {Baby George}

Spring is finally here and I couldn’t be happier. Walks to the park, rubber boots and puddles, I love this time of year. The snow will be gone before we know it and my spring and summer dates will begin to book up - if a bug free spring family session with a little bit of puddle jumping appeals to you be sure to check out my available session dates here limited April and May openings available. Mommy & Me studio sessions are also coming up for Mothers Day on April 27th - visit me on Facebook to learn more. I have so much to look forward to this spring, my first Mama & Camera’s class and so many spring newborns. I was also thrilled to learn my favorite newborn photographers Hello Baby Photography will be in BC this summer for a workshop and lucky me I get to go! The most amazing thing about being a photographer is that there is endless opportunities to grow and learn and I am so lucky to have the opportunity to learn from the best photographers from around the world.

I was so lucky to meet this sweet family earlier this year for a maternity session and again for an in home newborn session just over a week ago once baby George arrived. Photographing families in the comfort of their home has a special spot in my heart, I love using the background of their home to really capture the story of those early days with a newborn. Big brother Cooper wasn’t camera shy at all and made my job so much fun. Little George was surprisingly wide awake for being just 6 days old, but drifted off to sleep once I got him into his comfy spot - he loved being on his side. Robyn and Aaron, thank you so much for inviting me into your beautiful home to capture your family and this special time. Wishing you all the best as a family of four. Love, K.

Edmonton Newborn Photographer {Baby Henry}

New this year - I now offer payment plans as well as a print credit that will ensure you get some of your family photos up on your walls. I am so excited to also announce my newest endeavour Mamas & Cameras. I gained a new passion for teaching in 2018 and am so happy to offer my first class for moms on March 31 - Learn to Shoot Manual a.k.a take better photos of your kids. There are still a couple spots left, so if you are a mama with a DSLR camera that isn’t giving you great results on auto mode this is the class for you. Please contact me for more info or click button below to book your spot .

Earlier this year I was so honoured to meet and photograph sweet little Henry. He was finally strong enough to go home after spending his first three months at the Stollery Children’s Hospital, such a little fighter. He grew stronger everyday next to his twin sister Charlotte who sadly passed away just shy of two months old, such a heartbreaking loss for this young family. Henry was born with Dandy Walker Syndrome and will need surgery in the future; luckily he will receive amazing care at the Stollery. I am so happy I will have the opportunity to watch Henry grow into a healthy strong little boy, he is already reaching so many milestones. Caitlyn and Matt, you have truly been through so much and I am so blessed that I had the opportunity to capture these memories for you. Sincerely wishing you all the best.

I was so happy this family contacted me last minute to capture their new arrival. I can’t always fit last minute newborn sessions in, but when I do I am almost always rewarded with the most wonderful families to photograph. After a bit of a scary drive outside of the city on the first day we got snow I was greeted by the most gorgeous family of six in their beautiful light filled country home. Mom is a very talented photographer and you could definitely tell that the kids were used to having their photos taken, I’ve never had such easy siblings to capture, so full of love for their new baby sister. Little Madelaine was just a teeny little doll, so alert and awake most of the session, she really made me work for those sleepy shots! But you’ll never hear me complain about a baby that needs some extra snuggles. Bobby & Justin, thank you so much for inviting me into your home to capture this special time for your family. Wishing you all the best as a family of 6. Enjoy {K}.

Edmonton Newborn Photographer {Baby Bennett} Sneak Peek

I am blogging, I know, I know, it’s been MONTHS! This fall was my busiest fall yet and for that I am so thankful. This year I saw so many of you for the second or third time and it really felt like I was photographing my dear friends, not clients. Thank you so much for your continued support. I almost haven’t stopped this fall (with the exception of an amazing family vacation and a much needed photography retreat just last week - post to come soon!) but I have been busy doing a job that I love and I will never take for granted how lucky I am to be your photographer. There is so much coming up in the next couple of weeks, be sure to join my VIP facebook group so you don’t miss out on some amazing promotions, announcements (online gift card ordering soon!) and giveaway.

I am so happy that this beautiful family contacted me just before their baby boy was due to arrive and I was able to fit them in last minute. I do take a limited number of newborn families each month, but never hesitate to contact me if booking a newborn photographer slipped your mind until baby is almost due or arrived, I can usually fit you in. I was welcomed into their gorgeous light filled home by the most wonderful big brother and sister, so excited to introduce me to their new baby brother Bennett. I am sure that I have a special place in my heart for families of five because I have three girls myself, but these sessions never fail to have so much emotion and love that I just melt. Third babies are often the last, and knowing that I am capturing such a special time for families is so heart warming. Evan & Natalie, thank you so much for inviting me into your beautiful home to capture these memories for you. Wishing you the very best with three little ones to love. Enjoy {K}.

Edmonton & Area Newborn Photographer {Baby Logan} Sneak Peek

This summer is quickly coming to an end. It'y my oldest daughter's 9th birthday tomorrow and the rest of the year seems to fly by after that, before we know it it's my birthday, Halloween, my middle ones's birthday in November and then boom it's Christmas! It is so amazing how fast time and the years fly by when you become a parent. I remember sitting in my daughter's finished nursery before she arrived thinking is this baby ever going to get here and here I am nine years later and it went by sooooo fast, too fast! This is why newborn and family photography is so important and why I feel so lucky every time I capture such fleeting moments and memories for families, your babies are only babies for so long and you only get so many years with your children. If not for yourself, give your kids the gift of images of them wrapped in their mother's arms or being tickled by their dad, my girls love looking back at our old family photos and remembering how little they used to be and how young their mom and dad used to look, how life was when their was just one, two then three of them. If you are looking to book a 2018 session my newborn and family openings are booking up fast now. Please contact me to book your 2018 or 2019 newborn session. To book a 2018 family session, please visit my easy online booking tool by clicking the button below.

July was a full month of sweet squishy little newborns, including two little guy's named Logan. The second Logan I was lucky to meet was the 100th newborn I've photographed, and what  perfect timing as this little guy is very special. This beautiful family has been wanting to start a family for many years and after 5 years on a waiting list they finally received the most amazing news, a baby boy would be theirs through the love of adoption. I couldn't imagine the joy and happiness they must feel and did it ever show when I finally got to meet them, you couldn't wipe the smiles off their faces, just pure love and joy.  This tiny 5lb. little guy had to travel a few hours home and I couldn't stop imagining what it would be like to bring a baby home after waiting so long, the anticipation to finally get home and start your life together! For his newborn session he was so wide eyed and smiley to start then a sleeping little angel for me once I posed him, the kind of session newborn photographers dream of! Michelle and Brendan, it was such a pleasure meeting you both and capturing this very special time for your family. Wishing you the very best as a family of three. Enjoy. {K}

Edmonton Maternity & Newborn Photographer {Baby Logan} Sneak Peek

Hope everyone is enjoying the last weeks of summer, we sure are, and the countdown is on for our big Disney vacation in September! 28 days until we can finally surprise our girls with a Disney Cruise from Vancouver to San Diego! So far they just think we are spending a weekend in Richmond visiting friends..hahaha. I am sure ready for a bit of time off after what has been an incredibly busy summer full of beautiful families and sweet newborns. The time crunch is on to try and get all caught up before we go away for 10 days - hopefully my faster new I Mac will help a bit with my productivity; I finally had enough of my slow 2010 Macbook Pro earlier this week and headed to the Apple store to get a new system. The 21.5" screen and 4K display is probably my favorite feature so far, I am seeing colors and details I couldn't see before. You might have noticed above that I am going away in September...yep I know, the busiest time for family photos. While my availability is very limited, there are still a handful of September dates open, even a couple weekend spots I believe. My fall inquiries have definitely picked up this week, so now is definitely the time to book your fall family. Click the button below to book using my easy online booking tool.

This was my first of two baby Logan's I was lucky to photograph back in July. I met this beautiful family for the first time last summer and was so excited to hear they were expecting a second baby this summer. We had the most gorgeous summer night for Miss M's maternity session, here is a little sneak peek since I am soooo behind on blog sneak peeks!

Edmonton Maternity Photographer Madelaine Sneak Peek.jpg

I got to photograph little Logan when he was just a couple weeks old, such a handsome little guy like his big brother. He definitely enjoyed being snuggled and swaddled up, but sometimes a baby that needs a little more soothing is a nice change; I wouldn't be a newborn photographer if A - I wasn't patient and B - I didn't love the feeling of a baby in my arms. M & J, thank you so much for inviting me into your beautiful home to capture this special time for your family. Wishing you all the best as a family of four. Enjoy. {K}

Edmonton Newborn Photographer {Baby Eddie} Sneak Peek

I can't believe we are already in the last week of July, this summer is flying by way too fast! Headed over the canola fields just outside of town this evening to snap some photos of my girls, such a pretty Alberta summer landscape but they come and go in a matter of weeks. Still looking to book a summer family session - perhaps in the canola fields? I have 4 openings left in July & August and at $50 off they will book up quickly. I also announced in my previous post that I will not be hosting fall mini sessions this year - I did however add a couple weekend spots in mid September and early October that I am sure won't last long. Book your session now with my easy online booking tool - just click the button below.

I have been fortunate to meet so many brand new babies this July and little Eddie was one of my first. I just love meeting new parents, and this couple was just glowing with happiness and love for their first born and each other in their new roles as parents. My wrapping skills have definitely reached a high level after nearly 100 newborn sessions and I always giggle a little inside when new parents ask where to buy the wraps and watch intently as I wrap their little ones - Andrea & Blair hope some wrapping tips helped you get a good night's sleep after our session! Sweet little Eddie was just a dream to capture and I had the prettiest light to work with in the lower level of the family's beautiful home. Andrea & Blair thank you so much for inviting me into your home to capture this special time for your family.  Wishing you all the best as family of three. Enjoy! {K}
