Edmonton Fresh 48 & Newborn Photographer {Baby Brynn}

It’s officially spring break and after a fun weekend with family, including checking out the new Royal Alberta Museum (highly recommend!), I’m ready to enjoy having my kids home this week. We will do some baking, check out the new children’s area at the Telus World of Science, maybe go swimming, and hopefully get outside a lot, the perfect staycation. Hope you and your family have some fun planned for the week if it’s spring break for your kids too. With spring officially here and summer just around the corner now is absolutely the best time to book your 2019 family session. Weekend dates are all ready booking up into the fall. Some pointers again for picking the right season for photos - late May means cherry blossoms, late July canola fields (and bugs!), fall officially starts in September but colors are usually best between mid September and early October, and winter makes the perfect backdrop for holiday photos or extended family sessions when everyone is together for the holidays. I am so lucky to have the absolute honour of capturing this beautiful family for their baby girl’s first year. I got to meet Brynn when she was just hours old for a Fresh 48 session. Fresh 48 sessions are done in hospital when baby is 12-48 hours old, usually timed for when older siblings come to meet their new baby or brother or sister for the first time. The pure love and joy that surrounds a new baby those first days is full of precious moments that are so fleeting and I am so lucky to freeze time for these families. Fresh 48 sessions can be booked alone or at a discounted rate when booked with a newborn session or first year packages.

A couple short weeks later I photographed sweet little Brynn again for her newborn photos. It is always fun to see how families are adjusting to having a new little one and I am always amazed how much babies can change in as little as 10 days. Miss Brynn was so alert and spent a lot of time awake before melting into her dad’s arms and drifting off to sleep for her posed portraits. Big brother Chase was full of love for his new sister and even though he was a typical busy toddler, we got some very adorable snuggly shots of him and his sister. I cannot wait to see this family again later this year when Brynn is ready for her sitter session, the time will fly by I am sure. Meghan and Garret, thank you so much for having me capture this special time for your family. I am looking forward to getting to know you more this year and wish you all the very best as a family of four. Love {K}.

Edmonton Fresh 48 Photographer - Brand new Baby Oliver

Well it looks like by the end of this week we might finally see spring..after more than 168 days of winter it is definitely about time. Since spring is officially here, now is definitely the time to book you 2018 session with me. Weekends are 75% booked between June-October {wow!}, so if a weekend spot is important don't wait!  If mini sessions are your jam, spring mini sessions are booking now and are happening May 6 & 29. I am also hosting cuddle mini sessions for mamas and their babies on April 29th in studio - there are still a couple spots left, but I am sure they won't last long; you can find more info by joining my VIP group.

Fresh 48 sessions, oh if I only could pick one type of session to shoot these would be it. Those first days in hospital after baby arrives are so full of awe, emotion and love and I am so moved when I get the opportunity to capture such an absolutely magical and special time for families. I am so lucky to call this beautiful mama a friend, and I was so thrilled when they asked me to capture the story of their first baby's arrival with a maternity session, fresh 48 and newborn session. Little Oliver took his time arriving in this world, but I am 100% sure he was worth the wait. The pureness of a brand new baby, their curled up toes, little yawns and stretches is almost too much sweetness to handle. Trinity and Hugh thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to capture this fleeting time for you, enjoy those baby snuggles and the amazing adventure of parenthood. Wishing you all the best. Enjoy. {K}

Edmonton Newborn Photographer {Baby Audvik} Sneak Peek

Winter is here and 2017 is nearing it's end and I couldn't be more excited for the year to come. There is so much coming in 2018, a new home studio, teaching my first photography class, a new website and some new packages that I am hoping keep me very busy in 2018. This past year I have absolutely fallen in love with in hospital sessions. At this time, I am not booking birth sessions, but Fresh 48 sessions can now be booked on their own or in my {Tell the Whole Story} package, which includes a maternity mini session, Fresh 48 session done in the place of birth and a lifestyle/posed newborn session as well as an album that tells the story of your baby's arrival. I absolutely love meeting couples and families expecting a new baby, and capturing so many special fleeting moments along the way. I would love to tell your baby's story. You can find all of the information here

I had the pleasure of meeting Deep and Jyoiti for a maternity session this past fall, then again when little Audvik arrived, on Diwali to the delight of his parents, for a Fresh 48 session. When I met him again for his newborn photos, I couldn't believe what an angel he was, he made my job so easy, as did Jyoti and Deep who you can tell are just so in love with their new baby boy. Deep and Jyoti, thank you so much for having me capture the beautiful story of little Audvik's arrival. Wishing you all the best as a family of three. Enjoy. {K}

Edmonton Newborn Photographer {Now offering Fresh 48 Sessions}

As a mom to three beautiful girls, some of my most precious memories are of the day they were born. After a very long 9 months of anticipation the moment I met each of my girls was one of pure love and emotion and one that I will never forget. The days and weeks that followed though, those emotional, tiring weeks, are a blur. The days that I became a new mom, a mom to two, and a mom to three, the sweetness of my baby girls when they were brand new. What I would give to go back and have some of that time captured.

I am happy to announce that I will now be offering {Fresh 48} Sessions exclusively to my maternity & newborn clients. What is a {Fresh 48} session? Fresh 48 photography is a special session for those new families who want the first few hours of their newborn’s life captured. Held within the first 24-48 hours of your baby’s life, these lifestyle sessions are perfect for remembering that first day forever. Shots of your little one’s tiny toes, first yawns, sweet details and those quiet moments between you and your new little one. I will come to your place of birth within 48 hours.  Not meant to replace a traditional newborn session, no props or posing, it will just be me capturing your baby’s sweet new moments in a fresh natural way.

{Fresh 48} are offered alone or to clients that book a maternity &/or newborn package for an additional $250

. The sessions are 30-60 minutes at your place of birth and include 15-20 fully edited high resolution images.

Due to the fact that I will be on call for these sessions, I can only offer a very limited number of bookings per month, so it is best to contact me and book early.

Here is a snapshot of a {Fresh 48} session I was honoured to photograph this spring. Enjoy. {K}
